Things I Think Pre-Coffee : These Boots Are Made For Walking

Tell us about your favorite pair of shoes, and where they’ve taken you.

My favourite pair of shoes were a pair of brown fake-leather Steve Madden combat boots. The bottom of one of them got this huge crack in it so I had to throw them out last year.

My boots came with me to my first two years of university. They’ve been to lectures and one work placement (where the dress code was casual). Aside from the fact that I just like combat boots, they were my favourite because they were one of the first things I bought when I got my license – so, one of the first purchases I made alone. Plus they were $90, which to someone with my income ($0/month plus 0% commission) is quite an investment, So they were kind of a symbol of me growing up, driving by myself, moving to university, and having awesome boots. Plus, the first and only time in my life I was called “bad-ass” was when I threw them on over sweatpants. I am the least dangerous person on the planet so that was kind of fun.

I want to buy new ones but I’m in business formal-world this fall and they won’t let me wear them.

It is so early. Why am I even awake.
